| Scoop: Kawasaki Versys & ER 1000 Kawasaki have just launched pictures and details of the Versys 650. But our insiders have told us that Kawasaki are also in the process of developing a 1000cc parallel twin for a Versys 1000. Kawasaki will then also use the same engine for a ER1000N and F. These bikes will rival Yamaha TDM 900, BMW F800S and also V-twins such as Suzuki SV1000, Ducati Multistrada and others. Versys 1000 will most likely replace the current Suzuki powered KLV1000. Other Kawasaki news might involve a Z250 and a new learner legal 250 supermoto as well. More info and pictures here. TS/CG's by Robert O'Brien

| Worlds first pictures! 2007 Kawasaki Z1000 & ZX-10R Is Kawasaki prepared to give us what we want or what? The new Z1000 certainly is all that we could hope for and it's not only a upgrade of the old Zed. The 2007 Kawasaki Z1000 is an all new motorcycle with new engine, new chassis and thankfully only the right design changes. The new megaphone 4-2-4 exhaust will raise a few eyebrows. Much in the same style as Yamahas new V- max. The 2007 Z1000 features petal brake discs front and back with the same radial Nissin callipers as ZZR1400. The Zed will come with ABS as an option. I tried to get some answers from Kawasaki as to why the ABS option on a hooligan bike such as the Z1000. It is for the same reasons as why BMW do the same. | KTM 690 SM will be the most powerful single ever! The new LC4 690 will be both KTMs and the worlds most powerful production single ever. Even though the new 690 SM is called 690 it only sports a 654cc engine. It is due to the name really as KTM has used all the other model names in the past. The engine is high performance and the first all new single since the LC4 was first launched in 1987. A KTM spokesperson reported that the test riders have achieved top speeds of around 200km/h during testing of the new 690 SM. The engine is reported to produce in excess of 60bhp currently. The 690 SM is the only new bike featuring the new single KTM is developing at the moment, but as soon as all noise emission issues etc are sorted it will be a natural progression to use the same engine in a new Duke III and Adventure model. 690 SM will be launched for the first time at the INTERMOT in Germany 10th October. This year KTM will spread the news over the two big International motorcycle shows in Germany and Italy (EICMA). The RC8 will not be shown until next year for a 2008 release.
Polaris and KTM: After the decision not to sell further shares in KTM to the Polaris group it is believed by some in Mattighofen that the relationship is benefiting Polaris more than KTM. So as the situation stands today the Polaris takeover would have to be a hostile one. By Tor Sagen Victory 2007 KTM 2007 KTM 950 SM KTM 990 Adventure | | Advertisers contact for details |

2007 Moto Guzzi SP1300, Stelvio postponed As reported earlier Moto Guzzi will concentrate on launching a sports bike next after efforts on the Norge tourer and Griso muscle bike. Moto Guzzi told me that they are testing a 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 litre engine destined for the new sports bike. Only one of the configurations will make it, but cubes will give the new bike more muscle and an advantage on the road. The bike will be fully faired and the styling will be a mixture between the Griso and Norge models. Pic: HvW
