On Yamaha VMR concepts: Love the design of the Yamaha superbike with the V-max engine. Don't know how practical that would be for Yamaha to produce but if they put some comfy ergos on it and keep the hot look It could replace the FZ1 and I would buy one. NC Sean

Please e-mail the dummies at Yamaha for me and tell them many of us cannot even answer the v-max questionaire because of the rediculous flash presentation page that pops up. All I get is the flashing "quicktime" Q and a page that will not load. They need an option for an HTML only page if they want feedback from folks like me that cannot view QT
As to the Max, I own a 2000 and the very first thing I did was have a custom leather and gel seat hand crafted for it. The stock seat is HORRIBLE. It's like sitting on a giant radial motorcycle tire, and in 30 minutes your butt will be in serious pain. Tell them to redesign it, please!
I would like to see greatly improved handling, radial tires (duh!) modern electrical system and a 200 RWHP engine, maybe 1600-1800 CCs
I am putting my Mad Max project on hold ( www.madmax.com ) in the hopes Yamaha will produce the beast!

Hey man, Im sorta new to the whole motorcycle scene so forgive me if these
questions are kind of stupid. I came across your photos while searching in Google for information on the Buell Lighting CityX. But
hey anyway, Im interested in buying one in the near future and I had a few
questions about it. First I came across an article that said that its
mirrors vibrate so much while the engine is on they arent even useable, is
that true or is that an exaggeration. Also I heard that the shifting is
clunky and rough. And last but definately not least what does the bike
sound like? Is it a deep growl, a high piched squeel, or somewhere in
between.
Thanks For Your Help

I am Rony from Belgium. In march I've ordered a Benelli TnT Caféracer. I always wondered if the Caféracer would go into production as it was shown on the (few) pictures found on the internet (I never saw it in reality). So now with the Milan show coming, I've been searching on the internet for days, but I can't find anything on the Caféracer in Milan. So please, if you have any pictures of the Benelli Caféracer, could you send them to me or place them on your site? You would do me a very big favour. Thanks in advance,

Jim,
Thanks for the praise and advice.
Come on, that’s what a blog is for to put out all sorts of opinion in a down to earth fashion. I do keep it to the bikes most of the time since that is my main interest. If I was more interested in politics I would write more about politics. I am glad I do not host a forum though as that item in the blog you are referring to would bring up some strong very split opinion. It would be a disaster and I never really discuss it with people that send me views on that matter.
And no, I am not wealthy. But you are right in one thing; the cash flow goes pretty much more one way than the other. I am doing things to change that and you might have to put up with some adverts in the future on the show pages specially. Enjoy the site as it is whilst you can.

Triumph Hurricane and red-hot pink turbans
I hope I'm not being a bother, but lately some company's latest offerings have been driving me nutz. I've always been a big fan of the one man, with a bold idea, striking out on his own. But, it might be a good idea if that particular man has lots of talent, to go along with his vision. From the way I see things, it would be nice if a good number of today's designers were more like John Britten (meaning dead). And while Sachs is one of the more notorious loonies on the block, some of the larger manufacturers could do a brisk trade in straight-jackets, too. MZ is marketing a 1000cc parallel-twin in the US, for the paltry price of $10K+. Now, when it comes to making logical buying-decisions, we Americans might not be too bright (we've been keeping Harley afloat for decades)...but, were not likely to try and pick up chicks, wearing a hot-pink turban and scuba flippers, either. I want to know how somebody walks into a meeting with some of these gobblers and actually has the nerve to ask for the mega-bucks, in venture capitol, to pull it off (Hey, I've got an idea for a self-basting rubber chicken...Send Money). And would someone please remind John Bloor that the Triumph Hurricane was, and still is, one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever built - and that maybe, just maybe, producing a 1000cc triple, cafe' racer, based on the Hurricane, might be something to look into. While Triumph keeps beating their collective heads against the Japanese, the Hinkley brain-trust keeps looking dumber and dumber. And if Triumph insists on going heat-to-head with the Japanese on the race track, they should come up with something striking - so they at least look good while losing, for the first couple seasons. Anyway, that's my rant. Take care, Kevin PS. (a little something for your Scandinavian contingent) You can always tell a Swede, but you can't tell him much. With a name like Youngquist, I can get away with that. -R&R:Self-basting rubber chickens and red-hot pink turbans! We are proud to have you as a reader Kevin!

MV Brutale 910
Hi Tor, my name is Lars and I from Denmark. I have found you thru Brutale Forum and also seen your great site Raptors&Rockets. I have a big problem and I hoped you could help me with it. The thing is that ever since I saw the first pictures of the Brutale I swore that someday I would become a proud owner of one of these beauties. I have every magazine, every test, every picture; I know everything about this machine. But there is something missing. The new MCN paper from U.K L with the first test of the Brutale 910L. My local kiosk dealer (magazines/Newspaper Etc.) Has not got it, and he don?t think that he will get. I have been so many places in my search for the paper, either it?s sold out or they don?t have it. I have been into Germany to test-drive the Brutale 750 nearly bought one, but now the new 910 is on way I have decided to buy this instead, if I just had a test I could relate to. So Tor I was hoping that you have tried it, or maybe had the new MCN and maybe could scan it and send it to me, I would be very very thankful. Ohh Btw. The Brutale 750 cost here in Denmark due to our taxes roughly 25922 ? so that?s not and every day bike seen here in Denmark. Lars Duus, Denmark. -Hi Lars and thank you for your e-mail and comments! The plan was to go to Italy and ride the 910 this week actually, but now it will be in July. I know there is great interest in this bike and it will be all over R&R as soon as we have tried it. I will see what I can do for you on the article. Stay tuned, it will appear here in R&R soon. Tor

GSX-R1000 Black
Hi, I found your pictures of the GSXR1000K5 on BikePics. Do you happen to have more pictures of this black edition from different angles ? I'm still thinking about what colour to take. Normally I favour black but from the pics seen from the all new gixxer in black I judge it as not so nice as for example the black/grey version. On most pics it has a bit the busa look :( But pics are quite deceptive as I know now, judging the black/grey edition on decent pictures taken from a show setup and seeing it in real life. Sincerely, Dirk Brouns (Belgium)- Hi Dirk, I have published all the pictures I took at the NEC motorcycle show in Birmingham, UK last year. I know that the bike is beeing launched just now so you should be seeing the new GSX-R1000 all over the front pages of the magazines shortly. I like the black version but the new blue/white looks very handsome as well. However, the bike will be fast whichever colour. Tor
The writer
Hello Mr. Sagen, I am a big fan of all your photos on bikepics.com. It sure seems like you have a lot of riding experience. I noticed in your profile that you are a freelance journalist. I am in school now studying to do what you do. I was wondering how I might gain access to some of your writing, as Im sure it would be very interesting, and educational. Also, what kind of helmet is that you have in a lot of your pictures? Not the spider-man one, but the black and white one. It is very sharp looking. Take care, and thanks for your time. James Xanadu -Hello James, Thank you for your comments. Last year was a very busy year for me as you have noticed. The helmet is a Caberg Brutus(Legend) and is very affordable http://www.caberg-helm.com/home.aspx?xL=e&xM=prodotti&xSM=@@@integrali&xP=@@@@@299+LEGEND_nsejacbf_XS+S+M+L+XL_ab&xPC =. My best advice to become a freelance journalist in general is to write, write, write ... Start locally and never give up. I have specialised in motorcycles but was interested in writing a long time before the bikes entered my life. Regards Tor
Kawasaki ZX-6R Carbon
Hi! My name is frank. I've got the 2005 ZX-6R. I've seen the pictures of the carbon parts for my ride. can you tell me, where I could get those? best wishes Frank, Germany-Hi Frank, The bike you have seen is an official Kawasaki "tarted" up model and all carbon parts can be ordered from your local Kawasaki dealer. The pictures is from the NEC motorcycle show in Birmingham last year and the bike belongs to Kawasaki UK. Congratulations on a very capable motorcycle. Tor

RR vs R1
Hey Tor This is Mohammad, iv emailed you before about the cbr and the agusta Now i want your opinion about cbr1000rr and yzf r1 i know you have ridden both and know about it as far as i know and test drove them i think cbr1000rr is better what you think about there handling, power, speed and smoothness? -Hi Mohammad, I think that they are both very good sportbikes, the R1 is more softly sprung than the RR. They are both very powerful, but I prefer the midrange of the RR. The R1 is a bit "dead" below 9000rpms. Tor
Aprilia MX125
hi m8, im just about 2 buy a brand new mx125, just want to know wot there like to ride and how fast do they do restricted and de-restricted, and do they keep up with race reps de-res, cheers m8-Hi, The MX125 is gr8 to ride and much more fun and responsive than any 125 race replica. You will easily beat your mates from standstill every time due to a superior powerband low down. The speedo shows about 80 MPH or more derestricted. It actually comes derestricted and you have to get it restricted if you are on L plates. Have fun and congrats! Tor
Cagiva Raptor 125
hello ive just brought a 2005 raptor 125 2km later the speedo cable broke i got it replaced then 20km later the speedo stopped working and was making a clicking noise i assumed the cable broke again i took it apart and the cable is fine so its the speedo do you know if this is a common problem or is it just bad luck thanks for your help Answer from R&R: Hi Jamie and congratulations with a very cool 125, I have heard of problems with cables on the Mito 125. Make sure the cable is attached correctly both to the speedo and to the wheel. I have seen however even on some brand new Hondas that the cable needs to be tightened a bit or it will come loose. If your garage suspects it might be a faulty speedo they should replace it with a new one on your warranty. When it comes to Cagiva unfortunately you might have to wait a while for spare parts. I know because I own a Cagiva Raptor 1000. I am not sure where you are based in the world, but Three Cross Motorcycles Ltd. Phone : +441202 824531 is the UK importer of Cagiva and they also have a dealership.
Xtra Raptor
Cagiva Xtra Raptor Dean, I do not know how the prices are in your country, but here in the UK it is possible to get a real bargain on the Xtra Raptor. If I was buying a Raptor now I think I would have opted for the X rather than the V because it has got better suspention and is very trick. Also it is only produced in 999 units so you will get your unique number on the bike. This answers number 3. 1. The UK Cagiva importer has told me it is the 1997 spec TL1000S engine. That was the one with the best midrange so Suzuki parts will fit. I service my Raptor 1000 at a Honda dealer and no problems. If you however need special parts like a petrol tank it will be a long wait. But all service parts is no problem. 2.The Raptor is not as high in quality as lets say a MV Agusta Brutale and a few of the parts like brake and clutch lever looks a bit cheap to quickly. This is easily replaced even though I havent. The black paint on the X can be worn of quickly where your legs touch the petrol tank so would advise some protection straight away to avoid that. This is not a problem on my Raptor 1000 as the paint is different. The frame is ace and is made by MV Agusta. Parts of the fuel pump can corrode and needs inspection once in a while to avoid that. The rear sets has not got the best finish either since paint has rubbed off. Other than that the bike is great to ride and the engine perfect. 4. The Xtra Raptor does not need many modifications, but some carbon pipes is necessary to release the great sound. Maybe tune the injection a bit with a dynojet kit to get rid of a few glitches below 3000 rpms, but not really necessary when the bike is new. Hope this helps. Regards Tor Sagen --Original Message-- From: Dean James Naguib To: "'Raptors & Rockets'" Subject: RE: Cagiva x-raptor1000 Excellent!! 1? Is the engine exactly from the tl1000s. I want to know if I can use Suzuki service parts to maintain the bike?? 2? Have you noticed or even heard about any major problems with Cagiva?s quality?? 3? Is it worth the extra cash for the x-raptor over the v-raptor, or would you recommend me buying a v-raptor and using the money saved to do modifications?? 4? What Modifications do you recommend?? Honda CBR600 Q Estonian reader
Hi I visit the web-site and found your e-mail address and I like to get some help for buying honda cbr 600 2001. I visit different web-sites and found in london honda cbr 600 2001. announcement is something like that: "7100 Miles (runs just like a new bike, if not better because of the pc3 and k&n filter)/ Fuel Injected!!! This bike will start the same in the dead of winter as it will in the middle of the summer. There is NO SUBSTITUTE for Fuel Injection!" It cost 2200 EUR and i think that this is too little for bike like that. So I ask your option. What are you think if it possible that this bike may cost so less or it may be fake announcement? Could you send me some information how mutch this bike may cost in england? Sorry for my english. Looking forward to your answer Cris- Estonia. -R&R: Hi Cris, I think that sounds a bit dodgy too. There is no point in mentioning it is fuel injected since almost all bikes have FI now. I have seen good 2001 examples from ?3000-?4000. For 2200 euro there must be a catch so probably best avoided if you don't mind one that possibly has been crashed or similar. Power Commander and K&N filter is good, but it might also be because it has been a race bike. If you decide to go forward then make sure the paperwork fits with the chassis number etc.

The 600 received its restyling last year so I believe nothing big will happen to the 600 this year. Yamaha Tmax and Aprilia Caponord
-R&R:Hi Antonio, Thanks for your kind words. We have heard no news about any new update to the T-max. Regarding the Aprilia Caponord we think there might be something soon. There was talk before Piaggio took ownership of Aprilia that the Caponord was not selling very well and that it might be discontinued in its current guise. However we believe there will be an update in stead, but not this year. Time will show. Ciao!
2006 Yamaha R1
Nice website; I love it. Regarding the possibility of a new R1, a change is due in the R1, as it has been 2 years since the last revision, and Yamaha has been on a 2 year update cycle. The 02 R1 was announced in September of 2001; on my birthday I put down a deposit, and I picked up the bike on Valentine's Day (much to my girlfriend's dismay) of 2002 when the first one landed in San Diego. There is a possibility of some minor tweaks and a special edition yellow R1, but my money is that yellow will be available on a very different R1, possibly even an R1 with a "big bang" motor that sounds (and runs) more like the M1 than the current bike, as well as a few other tricks to surprise everyone. But only time will tell! I like those donuts with the custard in them, thanks. Paul P.S. I check every day in the hopes of new Brutale 910 info! -- Don't clutter the issue with facts; I'm trying to make a point. -R&R: Thanks for the praise, If I am sending donuts from the UK to the US the yellow custard might just look a bit greenish when they arrive.
Blow it out your ***
As I were away it seems that someone forwarded the articles to us. The webmaster standing in for me just copied it without further investigation. Now we will remove it but most of the info is available on the net anyway. But then again I might just keep on the site just because you attitude stinks. You could have asked nicely without an attitude. Hopefully we can meet in the future as I would like to enjoy a friendly chat with you. Bad ethics and poor morale in ****, blow it out of your ***. Go and see magistrate and start the legal process. -R&R: This one was too good to leave out. I have kept the author anonymous and also which country we are talking about. Here is our answer: Hi, Many of the stories would not have been on the internet had it not been for R&R. This is what makes the dollar come in. If we purely reported on what is already out there with no additional research we would be like anyone out there. I would be happy for you to use any of our stories if you just pay for them. If you want to link up to R&R fair enough, but not the snippet. I link up to loads of magazines so that the readers can see what else is out there. I would be happy to do the same with ***. It is not my intention to give you bad publicity and I can modify my blog to reflect this. And a friendly chat sounds good to me. We are not going to consider any legal actions since I know we can sort this in other ways. I am sorry I did not give you enough time to read my e-mail and react.
Brutale in Malaysia
Hi there, i'm from malaysia and my name is kenny. i came across your great website which i thoroughly enjoyed. i must say i am very envious on how you get to test ride just about every bike there is and comment on them. this actually brings me to the point i'm writing to you and i hope you'll be able to find some time for a quick response. i also came across the cycleworld forum in which you had commented on the difference in the ride between the ducati s4r and the mv agusta brutale and to quote you "the difference is like night and day." would you like to advice me on that? i'm actually contemplating on buying a s4r, aprilia tuono or mv agusta brutale hopefully the new model 910s. TIA for help. very best regards. kenny. -R&R:Hi Kenny, Sorry for the late reply, I have been very busy lately. Glad you like the web pages. The S4R is much more hard work than the Brutale S. The Brutale is very smooth and easy to ride. A bit more sport bike ergonomics, but handles very nice. The S4R has got a heavy throttle and clutch action that tires you when riding lets say on the motorways. But I liked the S4R?s brakes and suspension better than the Brutale?s. They are both great bikes, but I would go for the Brutale any day. Tuono is great fun too, but it will probably be updated for 2006 with new engine from the RSV-R and new fairing. But the Tuono is just as fun as the other two. I would rate them either for price where the Tuono probably would win or looks where the Brutale is a favourite.
Benelli TNT
Hi, Saw on BikePics that you had a Benelli TNT. I am trying to choose my next bike. At the moment I have a BMW K1200RS which I have been offered a great trade in deal on for a 04 Aprilia Mille - just 4000 EUR !!!! However I really love the Benelli TNT (especially the sport) but this would cost me approx 8000 EUR (as the 04 Mille is discounted). Should I listen to my head (Mille) or heart (TNT)? Thanks for your help! Hass, -R&R:Hi Hass, Sorry for the late answer, but been busy lately. My instincts (or maybe heart as well) says 05 RSV-R. The Benelli TNT looks likely to be discontinued and it is rumoured Benelli is going bust. And I believe you probably would need your warranty if buying one. They are great fun though, but go for a Speed Triple in stead if you want a more comfortable street fighter. They should be heavily discounted as well if you have a look at the 04 model. Or you could continue on a German bike such as the MZ1000 SF. Great engine! But you will love the 04 Mille as well so whatever you go for will feel great. Good luck and stay tuned at www.raptorsandrockets.com All the bikes you are interested in is featured.
Saxy or...?
Comments: I got linked to your new-model page, through Motorcycle Online, and I have to say that I like what I’ve seen. I’m writing you from the wilds of Pennsylvania: a highly populated state with bad weather, deep forests, rattlesnakes, bobcats, and even some mountain lions – and, yes, as a matter of fact, most of do have our front teeth. Anyway, as I scanned down the new 2006 model page, the Sachs section grabbed my attention (not the naked staff, but the bike you had pictured). Good God! What is that thing, and is it really called the Sexy Beast? Whatever it is, it should be designated as an HH (Hammer Head) because, lets face it, that’s what it’s gonna be called on the street. If that is the bike powered by the VX800, Sachs really does have their head up their ass (along with some bad boobs – sorry, couldn’t help myself). Nice looking bike, though. But considering that it’s German (and probably pricy as Hell) I can’t imagine it has sold, or will sell, may units. Too bad, I’m an oddball American who loves the Café Racer vibe (Down With Plastic) and that particular Sachs (sorta looks like Honda’s NAS that was never produced) would suit the bill. Love Your Page, Kevin Youngquist Warren, Pa. -R&R:Kevin, Thanks for your highly entertaining e-mail. You are too kind. Sachs: It is called Beast 1 and will only be produced in a 1000 limited edition. Not that I have seen any of them yet. Sexy beast was my headline to reflect both pictures:-) they have got a bike called Saxy though. The B-805 is the one with the VX800 engine. That was also a limited edition based on their Roadster 800. We rode number 122 of the 150 made. Oddball is the correct word for anything from Sachs. I will mention to Sachs that they should call Beast Hammer Head in stead. Are you sure Hugh Heffner wouldn't be interested in those Sachs staffers? Glad you enjoyed the pages, stay put, there will be more.
Moto Guzzi Breva
Hey. Great site! Just found it. Would love to hear what you think of the new Moto Guzzi Breva 1100. There's not much out there yet and they won't be here (USA) until the fall, at least. Is there a test/eval. planned? Thanks, Greg S. Chicago area '03 Futura -R&R:Greg, Thanks, glad you liked the webpage. We are working hard to put some good stuff on it. We would like to test the new Breva. As soon as there is time and we receive a date from the UK importer we will ride it. I believe Guzzi will be aiming at the US market with new cruiser models etc. so hopefully you guys will be able to check out the new stuff a bit earlier in the future. Stay tuned!
Buell XB12X Firebolt
Hi, I saw your great looking photos on www.raptorsandrockets.com today and was just wondering how you find your bike? I am looking at purchaseing one but there are alot of mixed reveiws on the internet so I thought i would ask someone who owns one. So if you dont mind could you just tell me if any thing has gone wrong with the bike. What you like about it and what you dont like about it. Thank you for your time Anthony, Australia. -R&R:Hi there, I tested one, so I don?t own one. The XB12R Firebolt is a great bike if you like something different. Very quick steering and feels very small despite the big air cooled twin. I have added a few comments on http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/raptorama.html of the XB12R and the City X. Will update more at some later point as well.
Buell City-X
Hey man, Im sorta new to the whole motorcycle scene so forgive me if these questions are kind of stupid. I came across your photos on raptorsandrockets.com while searching in Google for information on the Buell Lighting CityX. But hey anyway, Im interested in buying one in the near future and I had a few questions about it. First I came across an article that said that its mirrors vibrate so much while the engine is on they arent even useable, is that true or is that an exaggeration. Also I heard that the shifting is clunky and rough. And last but definately not least what does the bike sound like? Is it a deep growl, a high piched squeel, or somewhere in between. Thanks For Your Help Asa. -R&R:Asa, It is true the mirrors do vibrate quite a lot. The gearbox is not too bad, but still no Suzuki gearbox. I have got a couple of films of the City Cross, but they are very large designated for my DVD (if you want to check it out go to the DVD link on the R&R web pages). It sounds good for a small bike and I reckon you will not be disappointed. It is a great bike if you don't do loads of miles all the time. Perfect for city use.
Those Estonians!
Hi, I wrote you few weeks ago and asked your opinion for Honda cbr 600 2001. I also attached one advertisement that there is one bike for sale in London. I tried to catch all my friends from London but unfortunately it did not work. If you are in London have you possible to help me and check the bike and let me know if it is a real advertisment. If you have time then please let me know and then I can send you the seller`s address. Thank you! Looking forward to your answer! Cris. -R&R:Cris, We do like to be at service with good news and tests, but we do not check bikes for our readers. Sorry.
