2007 Suomy Vandal 155
The Vandal helmet was launched in 2006 and now all Suomy World Superbike riders wears one. Troy Bayliss, James Toseland etc.
Made in two shell sizes (XS-M and L-XXL), high impact resistant fibreglass, it has a removable, washable padding in hypoallergenic lining with antibacterial Sanitized® treatment. Lateral cheek pads, removable and washable are Suomy patent, they are available in different thickness to offer a better fit around the face. The visor is flat and thermoformed, scratch-proof, anti-fog and Mist Retardant. It has also 3 locking positions and it can easily be replaced in few seconds without using any tools. 2005/2006 Alpinestars Supertech
The Italian boot maker Alpinestars has improved the Supertech boots for 2005. Here at R&R we have used them for a while and we are on pair four at the moment. The zipper kept causing problems on last generation. Now the zipper is placed on the inside of the boots and a new ratchet makes sure everything is in place and fits perfect each time we put them on. Nothing feels safer than these Supertechs and that is why we use them. More info on wear and tear as soon as we have used these for a couple of months. Upd. 11/05 These boots are just unbeatable if you should be unfortunate and crash. I have had two crashes wearing different pairs of Supertech's and there's hardly more scratches on the boots than after a normal trackday without a spill. You have to be careful with your head, neck, back, arms and other bones, but your feet will always be ok. It's a good idea to zip the boots up and attach the ratchet after you are finished riding as this keeps the shape of the outer boots. the '05 Supertechs are really easy to step in and out of even though they now open from the side. 2005 Alpinestars GP Pro gloves
Possibly the best gloves we have ever used. MotoGP derived technology. They fit very well, but don't go for any smaller size than you normally would as the sizes are small. I have been riding with medium for a while even though large is my size and when the hands gets pumped up after demanding riding they just stop blood from entering where it should around the hand which again makes my hands go cold quicker when it is chilly outside. I have crashed with two different sets of GP Pro and they are a bit like a one hit wonder since seams and leather don't hold up too well after a wipe out. The first pair opened up the seams on one of the index fingers and were basically unusable afterwards. The latest pair (black) got scratches on the finger protectors and damages to the index finger front seams. Price: £119.95

The Alpinestars MX-1 race suit is new for 2006 and has got all the safety you can dream of and is slightly cheaper than the race replica suit. Scott's attempt on a warm winter glove. Not so "Xtrem". There are limited safety features compared to our Dainese Antartic gloves. The gloves are comfortable albeit a bit old-fashioned.

2006 Scott Nordland pants
These pants has got a Nordic name, feature a Gore Tex membrane and two pockets. The pockets are positioned in a way so that they are awkward to use even for small change and keys as they press towards the thighs on the move. You are probably supposed to use this with scooters and stuff, but I have found good use for it riding cruisers this summer too. It's fairly stylish, very light and comfortable. Not as safe as a full faced helmet though.

2005 Sidi Vertigo R
Very practical boots. there used to be problems with zips going on the old Vertebra boots. Now you adjust them perfectly every time you put them on and that eases the strain on the zip. The best thing about these boots are the level of comfort and feel. But not as comprehensively safe as Alpinestars Supertech. I use the Vertigo R's as trainers and if I need to go somewhere in a hurry as you can whack them on very quickly. Price: £130 TS
Suomy Spec 1R
Suomy Spec 1R is one of the safest most comfortable helmets you can put on your head. This is the Capirossi replica that I use. It is quite easy to change visor even though it takes slightly longer than let's say a Shoei helmet of the same calibre. Finish is great and it's available in many different colour options and an even higher spec Extreme version.
